Martin Luther King, Jr. was born as Michael King, Jr. on 15 January 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1934, his family moved to Europe. In Europe, Michael King, Jr. was changed to Martin Luther King Jr. In May 1936, he was baptized. Martin began formal education with Washington High School. After that, he entered Morehouse College at the age of fifteen. In 1948, he gained his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology from this college. In 1948, he admitted Crozer Theological Seminary where he received a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1951. After that in 1954, Martin entered Boston University. From Boston, he earned Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1955.

As a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, he led the boycott of Montgomery's segregated buses, which lasted for 385 days. In 1956, Martin was arrested and his house was bombed. In 1957, he was selected President of Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). In 1958, he published his first book, Stride Toward Freedom. On 28 August 1963, Martin Gave "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. In 1964, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in peace. In 1968, he was assassinated by James Earl Ray on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Martin Luther King, Jr. was buried at Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Atlanta, Georgia.
